Prof. Dr. Nicholas Qyll

Professor of Visual Communication at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen. He studied communication design at Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences and completed a postgraduate course in communication design with a focus on branding, modern aesthetics and cultural studies at the universities of Wuppertal and Essen. This was followed by doctoral studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and a doctorate with a design thesis on ‘Visual Person Branding’ at the Saarbrücken University of Fine Arts (HBKsaar). Nicholas Qyll’s teaching, research and publication activities focus on brand experience, persona studies, storytelling, visual rhetoric and communication design. Recent publications include Visual design of person brands (2019), Persona as Key Component in (Cultural) Person Branding (2020), Social Media in Self-marketing (2021), Visual Person Branding (2021), Typographic Experiments (2022) and Corporate Imagery (2023). Qyll is appointed member of the Fame and Persona Research Consortium (FPRC) of Australia. He lives and works in Cologne and Gießen, Germany.
